Traditionally, Muslims around the globe celebrate the first day of Muharram, which is the first month of the Islamic calendar. For Muslims, New Year’s Day is used to remind Muslims of the Hiraj or migration of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina.
In contrast, at the end of every Year (most commonly known as New Year’s Eve or the final day of the Gregorian calendar), Western Countries celebrate in many ways. In this cultural annual practice, most of the people celebrate in groups or social gatherings with noisy fireworks, some enjoy attending special parties and together welcome the New Year at midnight, while saying bye…bye to to the past Year.
However, since our Organization is willing in the future to open offices in all East African Countries, particularly in Somalia, we wish all of our brothers and sisters of East Africa to come together in a peaceful dialogue and create a sustainable on holding peace that will never flutter once for good.
Finally, since we all share one of the beautiful vast virgin regions in Africa, but might differ in certain believes & ideological aspects, I would like to conclude my writing to say Muslims and Non-Muslims “Happy New Year to all of you”, and may Allah (SW) make our region in a peaceful place to live.
Many best wishes to all of you,
Aden Ahmed Colujoog
President of the East African
Development Organization (EADO)
