For Immediate Release
PRESS RELEASE 009/2007
UN Special Representative for Somalia
calls for the release of two women from Medecins Sans Frontières.
Nairobi December 26 2007 - The UN Special
Representative for Somalia, Mr Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah, has said he is
shocked by the kidnapping of two staff members working for Medecins Sans
Frontieres in Bosasso, Puntland.
Mr Ould-Abdallah said
that kidnapping the humanitarian workers did not serve the cause of
peace or Somalia’s traditional culture of hospitality particularly at
this religious period of joy and forgiveness - Eid and Christmas.
The Special
Representative appeals to all actors involved in this operation and
those behind them to free unconditionally the two women from MSF.
